People in small towns, much more than in cities, share a destiny – Richard Russo
As a kid, I was all about the big city dream. Bright lights, non-stop action, a penthouse apartment with views for days – that was my jam. But somewhere along the way, I discovered the charm of small-town life. Cue meeting my husband and falling head over heels for both him and Gig Harbor, Washington. He was a local, and I was instantly smitten with the slower pace and the friendly faces. Fast forward thirty-plus years, and I’m still just as smitten (with the husband and the town)! Though it’s grown substantially, I’m still happy to call Gig Harbor my maritime home sweet home.
Strolling the waterfront downtown is my happy place. You’ll see smiles galore (both two-legged and four-legged!), and everyone’s ready with a cheerful “good morning” or a friendly wave.
Gig Harbor is a stunner year-round. Seriously, golden autumn mornings? Frosty winter afternoons? Spectacular!
But Christmastime? Oh, the Maritime City shines then! The town Christmas tree lighting is an annual can’t-miss event. And if we get a sprinkle of that rare December snow? Pure magic.
Gig Harbor may be a bit bigger these days, but it still has that same small-town charm that stole my heart all those years ago.

Cruising over the Narrows Bridge toward Kitsap? Hit the brakes and detour to Gig Harbor! Our enchanting waterfront is calling your name. Think scenic trails, a buzzing farmers market, cozy coffee shops, live tunes, and peaceful parks. Seriously, there’s something for everyone in the Maritime City. Trust me, one visit and you’ll be hooked!
